xxxThe Shih Tzu is the little dog with the big heart!  The Shih Tzu is only 9 lbs.-16 lbs., which is the AKC                          
    Standard, and very intelligent.  The Shih Tzu is lively and alert, but never high strung,  and loaded with                       
   character.  

xxxThe Shih Tzu loves to be with the family or with just you alone.  Young and old, the Shih Tzu will be there for          
  you.  All he asks in return is to be fed, have clean fresh water, lots of love and allow him to show his devotion to             
 you and or the family.   The Shih Tzu loves children, but please don't let them pull his ears or tail.  He will run              
and play with them for hours, but still relies on you  as the adult to  keep him from being hurt or harmed.  

xxxThe Shih Tzu is your best friend and companion.  He loves to be with you whether you are watching television,        
  lounging, not feeling well in bed, household chores, planting a garden or going  for a ride in the car.  If you are               
 doing homework, or if you work at home, the Shih Tzu is content to lay on the floor beside you.  The Shih Tzu also         
loves to take walks, but if you can't, is very content to stay home.

xxxThe Shih Tzu loves toys, whether they squeak, rattle or a ball that bounces.  The Shih Tzu  also loves to play in       
  the snow in winter, and roll in the grass in summer.

xxxThe Shih Tzu will greet you like no one else can, when you come home from work or shopping.

xxxAll the Shih Tzu wants is to be loved and cared for, and he will give that love back double.

xxxThe Shih Tzu is a house dog, but can be perfectly happy and content in an apartment or out in the fields with          
   you chasing whatever comes his way.  He adapts very easily to different  situations.  However, he does not like              
  being in a kennel type of situation.

xxxThe Shih Tzu is not a noisy, barking, little dog.  In other words, he is not a watch dog.  He will bark to let you             
  know someone is coming.  However,  all they have to do is give him a pat on the head or scratch his tummy, and he      
 will be very happy to have visitors.  

xxxThe Shih Tzu loves to be brushed and bathed.  He even enjoys the blow dryer.  You can keep his coat, hair, long        
  or if you prefer you can have him cut in a "puppy cut."  He has hair which is non-allergic, and non-shedding.

xxxThe Shih Tzu, as does any dog, needs to see a veterinarian at least once a year for his yearly                                                
 vaccinations.  He will tolerate the visit because you are with him.

xxxAn AKC Registration, Pedigree and Vaccination-Health Record should always accompany any purebred

xxxIf you are an individual alone, or a family, and are willing to accept the responsibility of all of the  above, the          
  Shih Tzu would love to be your best friend and companion.

xxxIf you are looking for an aggressive dog, the Shih Tzu will not be suitable.
